Autumn Inspired Outfits {Featuring Amy from Keepin' up with the Smiths}

HAPPY HALLOWEEN and now I will hand it over to Amy! :) Thanks Amy!!

Hi Few of My Favorite Things readers! My name is Amy. I blog over at keepin' up with the Smith's where I write about being a new SAHM to Cash, recipes, DIY projects & life in between.

I will be filling in for Kristen today & am so grateful that she is trusting me with her blog! Is she not one of the sweetest, nicest ladies out there? I'm so glad that we have become blog friends!

Today, I will be sharing with you autumn inspired outfits! {By the way, isn't autumn a prettier word than fall?} Pinterest is one of the best inventions ever! All of your favorites in one place! {heart} If interested, you can follow me here. I get so much time wasted many of my recipes, DIY projects & wardrobe wannabe ideas from this place.

Let's get inspired, shall we?

{1}
This outfit has Autumn written all over it. From the checkered scarf to the rustic colored bag & ending with the leather bracelet. All you need is a pumpkin spice latte & I think you are all set.

{2} I'm loving the color combo of orange & navy lately! Throw in a plum colored bag & cream & white layered sweater to complete the look.

{3} This is my favorite look out of the {5} that I will be showing you: a basic white shirt, pair of jeans & flats. However, throw in the blue bag, earrings & scarf completely jazzes this outfit up!

{4} In WI, you occasionally get the chance to wear a dress in the fall {last week we had {2} days in the 70's.} By adding the leather belt to the dress, helps you achieve the autumn look you are trying to achieve. A cozy sweater because by the time you leave work it will drop twenty degrees {at least here in WI}.

 Super cute outfit.

{5} Last but not least is this cutesy, comfy outfit. I'm a big fan of the leg warmer/sock things under the boots. The bag is so cute, too!

What is your favorite go to outfit or piece of clothing for autumn?

Thanks again for having me Kristen! I would love to have you stop by & keep up with the Smith's!!

Pumpkin Spice Mini Muffins

Amy at Keepin' up with the Smith's asked me to do a guest post last month! I was so excited when she asked me and truly grateful! Amy and her little family are cute! Check out her blog when you get the chance and show her some love.

I  wanted to re-post my recipe just in case any of you missed it! It is really good and I recommend the warm fluffy muffins with the cold front coming to Texas this weekend! I might make them for breakfast Thanksgiving too!

Pumpkin Spice Mini Muffins

Serving: 18 mini muffins

Pumpkin Spice Mini Muffins

1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pumpkin spice
1/3 c. melted butter
1 egg
1/2 c. milk

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
2. Sift together dry ingredients
3. Add the melted butter, egg and milk and then mix (don't over mix, you want it to be lumpy)
4. Scoop into muffin tin
5. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown (I have had to experiment with my oven so I would maybe place a toothpick in the center to check if they are done)

Topping
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. melted butter
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1. Mix sugar and cinnamon together into bowl
2. Melt butter in a separate bowl
3. Dip warm muffin into the butter and then next into the cinnamon sugar and Enjoy!

Hope you enjoy this recipe and if you decide to try it out, let me know what you think! :)

Fall Mantel Reveal!!!

I finally have a mantel to decorate!! I'm so excited, especially after seeing the beautiful and inspiring ways people have decorated theirs and pinned it on Pinterest!! I was working with a tight budget, but I think my "Fall" mantel turned out beautifully! Please, let me know what you think! I would also love to see pictures of your mantel!!

My inspiration came about when I went to my brother in law and his wife's house to search their attic for things they no longer are using. I was ecstatic when they said I could do this! I mean, who wouldn't be?! I also knew they had some beautiful paintings their grandmother had painted.

So the search began!!

My husband's grandmother was a great artist! She painted some beautiful paintings of the ocean, light houses, pastures with windmills and trees, barns, lakes, roses to only name a few. I mean they were gorgeous! While looking at all the beautiful paintngs I came upon the perfect one! It was just what I was picturing! It was painted with beautiful fall trees, a lake and a boy in a canoe.

Once I took it home, it sat on the mantel for a couple days and I started adding and taking things away. I took a trip to Hobby Lobby and purchased pumpkins for 40% off! I also found some grassy stuff to add to milk glass vases I found at a Goodwill last fall and have been using for all sorts of things around the house! I just love multipurposing things!

I wanted to add burlap garland to the mantel like the ones I have seen all over pinterest. I even had all the supplies handy! I started by cutting out a pattern, traced it on the burlap, cut it out, and glued them to the twin.

Are you ready for the reveal?!!

Here you go!

I find it very simple and elegant! I just love it and I can't stop looking at it! :) I hope this gives you some inspiration to decorate your fall mantel! I would love to see pictures of what you have done!

Have a great day!

Well, the craziest thing happened this week....my husband signed up for a pinterest account!! Yep, he can't make fun of me anymore. I caught him "pinning" last night! :)

Anyway, I'm linking up for the first time with Brooke at Covered in Grace (I just love the title of her blog) for...
