Fall Mantel Reveal!!!

I finally have a mantel to decorate!! I'm so excited, especially after seeing the beautiful and inspiring ways people have decorated theirs and pinned it on Pinterest!! I was working with a tight budget, but I think my "Fall" mantel turned out beautifully! Please, let me know what you think! I would also love to see pictures of your mantel!!

My inspiration came about when I went to my brother in law and his wife's house to search their attic for things they no longer are using. I was ecstatic when they said I could do this! I mean, who wouldn't be?! I also knew they had some beautiful paintings their grandmother had painted.

So the search began!!

My husband's grandmother was a great artist! She painted some beautiful paintings of the ocean, light houses, pastures with windmills and trees, barns, lakes, roses to only name a few. I mean they were gorgeous! While looking at all the beautiful paintngs I came upon the perfect one! It was just what I was picturing! It was painted with beautiful fall trees, a lake and a boy in a canoe.

Once I took it home, it sat on the mantel for a couple days and I started adding and taking things away. I took a trip to Hobby Lobby and purchased pumpkins for 40% off! I also found some grassy stuff to add to milk glass vases I found at a Goodwill last fall and have been using for all sorts of things around the house! I just love multipurposing things!

I wanted to add burlap garland to the mantel like the ones I have seen all over pinterest. I even had all the supplies handy! I started by cutting out a pattern, traced it on the burlap, cut it out, and glued them to the twin.

Are you ready for the reveal?!!

Here you go!

I find it very simple and elegant! I just love it and I can't stop looking at it! :) I hope this gives you some inspiration to decorate your fall mantel! I would love to see pictures of what you have done!

Have a great day!

I love getting packages from blogging friends!!
Hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Whew! What a week!!

As you may know from a previous post( A place we call home) my husband and I have been busy  moving into our new home! I took a few days off last week from blogging and reading blogs so I could get organized and moved in the best I can while my parents were here from Houston to help. We also haven't switched over the internet from the apartment, so I'm blogging at Starbucks sipping on the best drink ever! The famous PSL with soy milk! I just can't get enough of them!

Here is what has been going on the past week...

First, my mom and grandpa drove up to "supervise" while I pack. They were great company!! My mom recently had rotator cuff surgery so she had to take it easy.

The morning they arrived we enjoyed lunch at Denny's

                                                        Then the fun began!

Moving makes you dog tired.....

It was my grandpas last night visiting so we enjoyed a nice Italian dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in Downtown McKinney!!

Then it was back to more moving....

We decided to take a break from working inside and do some yard work and man did that kick my butt! I pulled out all of the dead bushes and some of those roots were so big and tough!! My dad also drove up from Houston to lend a helping hand later in the week!

Digging out those stubborn bushes!! I think there were at least 8!

                                                       Planting some mums!!

Saturday morning we went to the local Farmers Market to buy some of our weekly groceries.

There were some plumbing issues one night...and we finally ate dinner around 11PM! We were starving!!!!

The last night my parents were here we celebrated my mom's birthday! I was so thankful that I could celebrate it with her this year! We went out to dinner and she took home a piece of Key Lime Pie!

Whew! What a busy week! We still have a few more things to move in, but man am I tired!! I hope you all had a great week and I look forward to catching up with all the blogs I follow! Even though I have only been away a week...I have really missed it.

Have a great day!

Happy Hump Day

Good morning! Today my mom and I were in desperate need of coffee and because the boxes with all the mugs in them have already been taken to the house we realized we had no mugs!!Wait! NO COFFEE MUGS!!! Luckily, when I was about to give up, my mom found two mason jars that I use in my craft room. I cleaned them up and set them under the best invention in the entire world, the Keurig and viola, we had coffee!!!!
